"Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one."     -Stella Adler
The Actors Playhouse consists of a group of actors and those who want to explore acting. They meet once a month to develop scenes and work on characterization. The short term workshops are taught to develop the actor’s imagination, flexibility, focus, responsiveness, emotional intelligence, and vitality. These short-term workshops consist of a course on the Meisner Technique, as developed by Sanford Meisner of The Neighborhood Playhouse (New York), and a class on Scene Study based on the teachings of Uta Hagen.
Carole Zucker, the instructor, trained at The Neighborhood Playhouse and HB Studios (with Uta Hagen) in New York City. Zucker has taught courses in film acting and method acting for over thirty years, and regularly offers private tutoring for auditions. She is universally acclaimed for her insight, devotion to teaching, and her ability to release her students’ creative energies and emotions. Many of her students have gone on to further studies in acting and careers in television, film, and the theatre.
The workshops are given annually in East Anglia (UK) and Montreal, Canada. They are not intended as a substitute for the full conservatory experience, but are offered to those with an interest in acting, amateur theatre, those who may wish to go to drama school and those who want to explore the acting process and their creativity. The workshop is invaluable for film makers who want to learn more about the acting process and how to direct actors.
Commitment to the process is all that is required of the student. Typically, enrollment is restricted to those 18 years of age and over.
